Week 3 - Sept. 20 |
8:15 AM |
Blazers - 9 |
v |
Phoenix - 16 |
Phoenix - M.
Martin (6), Blazers - O. Jackson (5) |
N/A |
Great start for
both teams with a 4 to 4 tie at the halve time. But Phoenix outscored the
Blazers in the 2nd halve with J. Stewart and C. Wade adding 4 points each to
lead the team to a 6 point lead. Very
good game by two really good teams. |
|
|
9:00 AM |
Thunder - 17 |
v |
Penn State -
3rd/4th/5th - 18 |
Thunder
- N. Batchelor (11), Penn State - A. Williams (10) |
N/A |
Really
good game with the score tied at the halve time at 8 to 8. Both team played hard in the second halve
but Penn State team A. Williams 5 points just enough to lead the Penn State
team to a 1 point victory. Expect
these two teams to see each other again and may have a different result. |
|
|
9:45 AM |
North Carolina - 12 |
v |
Spurs - 28 |
N.
Carolina - D. Walker (7), Spurs - J. Arrington (11) |
N.
Carolina - J. Lawrence (1) |
The
Spurs scoring drive in both halves was too much for the N. Carolina team to
overcome. N. Carolina had many
opportunities but the shots just would not fall. Much better game than the final score would
indicate. Great effort by D. Walker
who added 5 points in the 2nd halve for N. Carolina but not enough as the
Spurs A. Arrington added 5 of his game high 11 points in the 2nd halve. |
|
|
10:30 |
Tar Heels - 23 |
v |
Penn State - 7th/8th
- 34 |
Tar
Heels - Nakhleh (5), Penn State - A. Williams (10) |
Penn
State - J. Cherry (1), A. Williams (2) |
Really
Great game by a Tar Heel team which is getting better every week. Tar Heels fought back from a 20 to 12 lead
by the Pen State team at halve time.
But the 11 point second halve scoring by the Tar Heels was not enough
to overcome the slow start. However,
Tar Heels played hard and at one time cut the lead to 6 points in the second
halve. But some sharp shooting by A.
Williams with two three (3) point shots in the second halve keep the Penn
State team in the lead. Penn State
wins by 11 points but a much closer game than the final score tells. |
|
|
11:30 |
Lady Mystics - 31 |
v |
Hot Shots - 34 |
Mystics
- T. Watts (14), Hot Shots - H. Gray (18) |
Mystics
- T. Watts (1), H. Hanmond (1), C. Montgomery (1) |
Double
Overtime !!!!! This was a hard fought
game with the score coming down to the last second at regulation, 1st
overtime and 2nd Overtime. Great play
by the ladies with some really good defense, rebounding and offense. Big time plays by H. Gray for the Hot Shots
and T. Watts by the Mystics. |
|
|
12:15 |
Lancers - 11 |
v |
Class Acts - 29 |
Class
Acts - K. Coleman (8), Lancers - D. Cerny (4) |
Class
Acts - J. Balkcom (1), S. Lewis (1) |
Very
slow start with 4 points in the 1st halve for the Lancers put them in the
chase for the rest of the game. The
usual pressure defense and press by the Class Acts did not allow the Lancers
a chance to come back. Good game -
Lancer never gave up to very good
Class Acts team. |
|
|
1:00 |
Comets - 13 |
v |
Hot Shots - 23 |
Hot
Shots - A. Smith (11), Comets - R. Hastie (5) |
Comets
- R. Hastie (1) |
Hot
Shots coming off a double overtime win earlier in the day, continued their
winning ways with A. Smith leading the way.
Comets put up a challenge but fell 10 points short of winning. |
|
|
1:45 |
Vikings - 33 |
v |
Eagles - 39 |
Eagles
- D. Giles (11), Vikings - N. Dize (9) |
Eagles
- J. Brown (1), D. Giles (3), J. Eaves (2), A. Cole (1) |
Close
game against two good teams that match up very well. A lot of 3 point shots made in this
game. Very good defense by both
teams. Expect the next match up to be
another close one. |
|
|
2:45 |
Hoyas - 45 |
v |
Running Rebels - 14 |
Hoyas
- R. Rivas (9), J. Galloway (3), C. Sullian (3), M. Cox (3) |
Hoyas
- T. Collins (2), R. Allen (2), N. Pollard (1), J. Dyson (1), R. Rivas (3) |
Hoyas
proved to be too strong for the Running Rebels. However, Running Rebels showed a very good
effort and are getting better each week.
Slow start by the Running Rebels played a huge role in keeping up but
a much better 2nd halve. |
|
|
3:45 |
Urbana Elite - 42 |
v |
Wizards - 38 |
Wizards
- S. Clausen (9), D. Hoyos (9), Urbana Elite - J. Frizzell (10) |
Urbana
Elite - C. Clark (1), J. Galloway (3),
Wizards - J. Maruskin (1) |
Great
game by the Wizards who played hard all game long. Wizards came out in the 2nd halve from a 9
point lead by Urbana Elite. Wizards
cut the lead to 4 point at one time during the 2nd halve but not enough to
overcome the 9 point lead by Urbana Elite at halve time. |
|
|
4:45 |
Hornets - 28 |
v |
New Life Christian
RAMS - 20 |
Hornets
- G. Mulligan (10), NL Christian - B. Passuelli (8) |
NL
- B. Passuelli (1) |
Hornets
get the win against a hard playing NL Christian School team. NL getting better each week. Expect NL to make a run by the end of the
season. Hornets get a 10 point effort
from G. Mulligan to help on the win. |
|
|
5:45 |
West Virginia - 50 |
v |
Lakers - 28 |
West
Va - J. Lango (12), A. Dorsey (12), Lakers - T. Dextradeur (1) |
WV
- A. Dorsey (2), S. Mattax (1), J. Lango (1), T. Dextradeur (2), M. Stroup
(1) |
Laker
played hard all game as they usually play with a never give up attitude. But the WV team was too much. Score does not reflect the effort by the
Laker but the average for the WV team. |
|
|
6:45 |
Dallas - 29 |
v |
Hard Work - 60 |
Dallas
- M. Brown (17), Hard Work - J. Hugley (18) |
Dallas
- C. Loy (1), Hard Work - J. Hugley (1) |
Hard
Work proved to be one of the best Varsity teams in the league as they are now
undefeated in three outings. Dallas,
short on players for this game, played hard but did not have enough to stay
with a very good Hard Work team. |
