Fall Adult Basketball League 2008

By demand from our former BCWB Youth Summer League Basketball Players, BCWB is forming an Adult Basketball League for For High School Seniors to Adults 25 Years of Age.  This league will serve two purposes.  One, to provide a continued outlet of sports recreation and competitive basketball to our young adults whom are preparing for college or gone on into the workforce.  Two, to provide an opportunity for our young men who are now seniors in high school to play against more experienced and former college players as a way to prepare them for their freshman year basketball experience in the college of their choice.

BCWB will take team entries as well as individual player entries.  There will be no scheduled practices by BCWB, however teams are welcome to schedule their own practices.  All games will be officiated by certified High School officials.  Teams will have the option to have a "Player Coach" or Coach assigned to the team.  

The BCWB Fall Adult Basketball Season will run September through October. The season will run 8 weeks on Saturdays with all teams making the playoffs. See our “Fact Sheet” for more specific registration information about the program. Registration deadline is August 1, 2008 for Team registrations and August 22, 2008 for Individual registrations.

Fact Sheet 

Teams: 

• Minimum number of teams per division will be four (4)
• Minimum number of players per team will be 10  (Max 12 or coach discretion)
• All teams will be provided game jerseys.  (T-shirt style).  Teams will be responsible for coordination of shorts.

Games: 

• All Games are played on Saturday mornings between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM at the Whittier Recreation Facility operated by the City of Frederick Department of Recreation.
• Game dates are September 6, 13, 20, 27 and October 4, 11, 18 and 25th
• All games, Division I and II game will be played on regulation high school basketball courts.  
• Single elimination playoff games will be held on October 25^th
• All teams will make the playoffs
• Awards will be given to runner-up and championship teams only

Practice: 

• BCWB will not provide a practice site.  However, teams are welcome to practice on their own time.  

Basketball Governing Rules 

All games will be played in accordance with high school rules.

Insurance: 

Secondary sports insurance will be provided by a qualified and respected sport insurance organization.  

Officials: 

All games will be officiated by IAABO (high school) officials.  

Player eligibility Rule (coaches are required to present birth certificate upon demand): 

• Player can not be 26 prior to Jan. 1

Cost:   

*Individual Entry 

·        Cost will be $80.00 per player

·        Registration deadline August 22, 2008

·        No Refunds after August 22, 3008 

*Team Entry (optional cost and savings applies per player) 

·        Cost per team (10 or more players) - $80 per player

·        Refundable $100.00 team entry deposit due with team application.  Team refund will be returned upon receipt of final team roster and payment by the due date.

·        Team application with preliminary roster due by July 18, 2008

·        Final team roster and payment due by August 1, 2008

·        No refunds, deposit or player registration, after August 1, 2008.

·        Deadline for final modification to team roster August 22, 2008
