I wanted to send this note to you to let you know that our son, Ben Nickey, ( Jr. High division), had a wonderful experience with this league. He really enjoyed playing and learning more about the game of "hoops" . We also cannot say enough great things about his coach Antwione Brown, what a gentle soul and an all around good guy! Thanks for running such a positive program.  We will be back again next year! Best regards,

darryl -

THANKS a lot for your commitment to KIDS in our community.  i appreciate and admire your HUGE HEART for others !!  your rapport with the kids is fantastic, and they really respond to your personality !!  i also like your emphasis on instruction, especially since the hillcrest gym size, the two-hour session, and the number of kids that you have (around 50 or so) don't really lend themselves to scrimmaging.  i agree with you that it would be kind of chaotic to even try.  so . . . keep up the good work  !!  :)

on a personal note, thanks for allowing me the opportunity to witness for Christ tonight with the ball-handling routine.  i appreciate it, and hopefully God was glorified.

one suggestion for your instructional camp . . . have six coaches to run a station at each basket, and have at least two balls at each station.  this makes your lines at each station shorter and gives every kid at least twice as many reps each night.  if you need more balls, i have plenty that you can use.  if you need more coaches, i would be glad to help you round them up.  also, you may want to use your outdoor courts.  this small adjustment (more coaches, more basketballs) will allow your instructional camp to be even better.  and i would be willing to help out in any way . . . just let me know.

anyone who takes a week of vacation time to devote to the KIDS of our community should be given a standing ovation, so right now i'm standing up at the computer and clapping for you.  your passion for kids is evident to everyone you meet, and i'm grateful for all of your efforts to help them be better people and better players.

it was great seeing you throughout the week, and i wish you and your family all of God's greatest blessings.  have a super summer !!

This was our first year participating in the summer leageue. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank you and the BCWB organization for volunteering your time to coordinate and execute a successful league.  We were a last minute enrollment, it really meant a lot to Dejuan to be allowed to play.  I also appreciate the fact that games were started and ended on time.  We participated in the summer camp too....each night the kids came home excited to share what happened at camp, tell who was "camper of the day", and they still remember the encouraging words from BCWC staff as well as the talk from the FCC coach.  You guys do great work....keep it up!

My two boys, Morgan and Ethan, had a wonderful experience with BCWB this summer and want to play again next year.  Thank you very much for running an excellent program.  Both my husband and I would gladly volunteer to help your organization next summer.  THANK YOU!!

Now that the season has ended I wanted to get back to you to reiterate what a wonderful program we think you have created.  Although this was our first year being a part of BCWB, our kids have participated in a variery of sports programs in Frederick County.  By far, BCWB has been the most impressive.  Mostly because of the opportunities offered to so many kids and the organization of your program.  It has amazed my husband and me each week as to how you are able to do so much with an outdoor summer program.  In addition, we came into this not knowing anyone and had the opportunity to meet some really great families.

I originally saw a sign advertising BCWB back in the winter and called to see what it was all about.  Our son, Michael, is only 10 years old and really a grade too young for your program, but we were told that he was welcome to play.  We understood that he probably wouldn't get a lot of playing time, but would have the opportunity to learn more about basketball and experience a new level of competition.  We never expected it to turn out to be such a great experience.  Michael was selected to receive the Achievement Award for the Junior Division yesterday.  This was such an honor and we are extremely proud of him for the effort he put forth and how he stepped up this season, but just as much proud that he was able to benefit from being part of such a great program.  We are sad that the league has ended, but will definitely be ready to come back next year and play.

Thanks again.

Sincerely,

I think what you are doing is outstanding.  This is my son's first year with the league and we'll definitely be back next year.  We can't make it to the picnic because of our family vacation.  However, I want you to know that it's a classy way to end the season and that we appreciate all of your efforts.  From the organization to the work you do each week, every board member and volunteer deserves applause.  Thanks again!!

THE TWO BASKETBALL GAMES, complete with officials, timekeepers and scorekeepers, were being held simultaneously at the College Estates outdoor courts on Taney Avenue in Frederick on Saturday afternoon. Between 30 and 40 youngsters were taking part in the games. It was hot, but the youngsters didn't seem to mind. They were just happy to be playing organized basketball at this time of the year
